Kyrgyz authorities are negotiating with Russia for additional fuel supplies, even as strikes by Ukrainian drones have limited Moscow’s ability to export several petroleum products, resulting in a fuel shortage in the Kyrgyz market.
According to Reuters, Kyrgyz media reported this on Tuesday, July 28, citing Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev, as Ukrinform reported.
It is noted that Amangeldiev did not specify the volumes or timing of the supplies discussed during the negotiations with the Russian side.
Kyrgyzstan is heavily dependent on petroleum product imports: The country typically imports more than 90% of its gasoline from Russia. At the same time, Russia has been facing a fuel shortage since late May due to reduced production resulting from Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries.
In July, the Kyrgyz authorities imposed an indefinite ban on the export of petroleum products.
