Canara Bank posted a strong first-quarter performance with net profit crossing ₹4,000 crore while largely protecting its net interest margin (NIM) despite successive repo rate cuts.In an interaction with businessline, Managing Director & CEO Brajesh Kumar Singh said the bank is seeing healthy credit demand from emerging sectors such as battery energy storage, power evacuation and data centres, while asset quality remains comfortable across retail, MSME and corporate books.The company has reported a 2.19 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in standalone net profit to ₹4,856 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026.
