CHICAGO — Catcher Ali Sánchez’s New York Yankees cap is unlike the hats the rest of his teammates wear. Along the right side, two capital letters are stitched in bold, white font: “VZ.”
Sánchez asked the Yankees to add the letters after two major earthquakes devastated his native Venezuela on June 24, killing more than 5,000, according to the Associated Press.
