Anthropic just dropped Claude Opus 5, and if you’ve been scrolling through X or LinkedIn, you’ve probably seen the benchmarks. It’s faster, it’s better at coding, and its "computer use" capabilities are reaching new heights.
But here is the thing: if you actually open the system card, you’ll notice that roughly two-thirds of the document isn't about how fast it is, it’s about safety and security.
As developers building on top of these models, we can’t afford to ignore the fine print. I spent some time digging through the technical details to figure out what Anthropic actually measured, where the holes are, and what stays your responsibility once you start shipping.
The TL;DR for Devs
Alignment is at an all-time high: Opus 5 is Anthropic’s most aligned model yet, scoring better than Sonnet 5 and Opus 4.8.
