Should any party wish to use the Council Chambers, they could apply, pay the up-front fee to rent the Council Chambers, and on proof of payment they could get access to the Council Chambers should it be available, says City of Cape Town Speaker, Felicity Purchase.
Purchase's comments come as the DA's use of the City's council chamber for a party-political event while formal council meetings continue to be held online has drawn criticism from opposition parties in Council.
GOOD Party councillor Sandra Dickson said that video footage from Saturday, which shows the DA occupying the Council Chamber in the Podium Block of the Cape Town Civic Centre, creates an extraordinary contradiction.
