KORONADAL CITY — A provincial road connecting two villages in coastal Lebak, Sultan Kudarat has remained closed since Monday after a landslide damaged a section of the road.
Affected by the road closure are Barangays Poloy-Poloy and Salangsang.According to the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Poloy-Poloy and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Lebak, the landslide caused part of the road to collapse, making it unsafe for motorists.
READ: 100 families evacuated in Sultan Kudarat town due to flash floodsThe road was also blocked by rocks, mud, tree branches, and other debris carried down by the landslide.Authorities also reported another landslide at Km. 13, where several power poles tilted toward the road, adding to the danger.The affected road has been temporarily closed while clearing operations are underway and authorities assess whether it is safe to reopen.According to the MDRRMO, the landslides and road damage were likely caused by days of continuous rainfall that affected the area since last week.
