Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), in cooperation with the National Risk Register, has urged motorists to take extra precautions when driving during adverse weather conditions, particularly rain and fog.In a public awareness campaign titled "What if weather conditions were difficult?", the authorities reminded drivers that reduced visibility and slippery roads significantly increase the risk of traffic accidents. The campaign advises motorists to:Reduce speed according to road and weather conditions.Stay focused and maintain full control of the vehicle.Keep a safe following distance from other vehicles.Hold the steering wheel firmly with both hands.The ROP stressed that safe driving practices are essential during periods of unstable weather and called on road users to remain vigilant and comply with traffic safety guidelines to protect themselves and others.The awareness message comes as parts of the Sultanate continue to experience rainfall and changing weather conditions, reinforcing the importance of defensive driving and preparedness on the roads.
