James Carville on Sunday reacted to recent reporting by The New York Times outlining internal chaos at the Democratic National Committee, halfheartedly suggesting that former DNC Vice Chair David Hogg take the reins from current head Ken Martin.“If David Hogg wants to take it over, I ain’t stopping you. Go ahead, man, I don’t really care,” said the longtime Democratic strategist in a clip shared by Politicon, the platform hosting his “Politics War Room” podcast with Al Hunt.Carville briefly clashed with Hogg, a gun control activist, over his plan to take down Democratic incumbents in primaries last year, a feud the two seemingly settled when they agreed that Joe Biden should have dropped out of the 2024 presidential race sooner.Hogg’s plot, nonetheless, sparked infighting at the DNC. The committee voided the results of his election to the vice chair position, and he decided not to run for the post again last June.The Times’ story detailing the “paranoia, worries about money and, on occasion, emotional eruptions” at the DNC described one instance of Martin throwing his phone at a junior aide “in pique of frustration” earlier this month as he grapples with the DNC’s $2 million debt and internal leaks. Carville offered his two cents on the reportedly “dysfunctional” DNC, suggesting that leaders “get themselves together” and figure out a way to be “somewhat relevant.”He then turned to new reporting by The Washington Post about Republicans’ concerns about a lack of enthusiasm for the GOP heading into the midterms.“So... have a little fun, read the DNC story about [Martin throwing], I don’t know, a salt shaker, threw something at a desk. Oh, God forbid that would ever happen,” Carville said.He added, “And then read the story about the troubles that [the GOP is having], and let’s do everything we can to give them even more trouble between now and Election Day.”
