If you think the impact of the Fifa World Cup ended when Spain lifted the trophy in New York, think again. Its aftershocks are already being felt across the English Premier League, and no club emerged from the showpiece with more reason to smile than Arsenal.
The reigning Premier League champions had players influencing the latter stages of the tournament from every angle. Bukayo Saka once again underlined his status as one of Europe's premier wide forwards, while Declan Rice produced another accomplished tournament that reinforced why he is regarded as one of the world's leading midfielders. Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke also played a major part in England's bronze-medal finish, further highlighting the depth of quality now at Mikel Arteta's disposal.
William Saliba's World Cup ended prematurely through injury, but not before the Frenchman had once again demonstrated the composure and authority that have made him one of the game's finest central defenders. Spain's world champions Mikel Merino and Martín Zubimendi return with winners' medals, while Gabriel Magalhães can take little blame for Brazil's disappointing campaign.
