Police in the Helderberg region seize two rhino horns and a firearm during a raid on a wine farm, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old foreign national for illegal possession.

Police have arrested a man in possession of rhino horn in crime-combating operations in the Helderberg region over the weekend.

Among the arrests was a 42-year-old foreign national who was taken into custody after police allegedly uncovered a cache of illegal items at a wine farm in the Croydon area outside Macassar.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, officers acted on information about the alleged illegal sale of liquor at the premises on the afternoon of Saturday, July 25.

During a search of the property, officers confiscated a large quantity of liquor, a 9mm Taurus pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition and two rhino horns.
