If you had to pick one spec on Samsung’s top-end flagship that doesn’t feel all that “Ultra,” it’d probably be the 5,000 mAh battery that hasn’t changed in half a decade. Finally, though, it sounds like the Galaxy S27 Ultra will bring a battery upgrade, and a big one too.
To reiterate, Samsung has been using the same 5,000 mAh battery for the past several generations of its Ultra flagship, from 2020’s Galaxy S20 Ultra all the way to the current Galaxy S26 Ultra, there hasn’t been a single upgrade in capacity, and it’s getting stale.
Now, silicon-carbon is on the table.
Having debuted in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, rumor has it that the Galaxy S27 series will be Samsung’s next stop for this long-awaited battery tech. GalaxyClub reports that, indeed, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be getting a significant battery upgrade.
A new battery cell with a rated capacity of 5,534 mAh points to a Galaxy S27 Ultra with a battery marketed around 5,700-5,800 mAh – “typical” capacity is always higher. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s battery was rated around 4,850 mAh~.
