Washington Examiner Executive Editor Bob Cusack said Republicans are more divided now than when President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed a year ago.“Democrats don’t like this bill, they call it the ‘big ugly bill,’ but unlike Obamacare and Democratic bills, Democrats don’t go as far to say, ‘We want to repeal the whole thing,’ at least most of them don’t,” Cusack said on C-Span’s Washington Journal Monday. Host Taylor Popielarz noted that while the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was a big accomplishment for the Trump administration and the Republican-led Congress, the GOP hasn’t been able to get much done since. Cusack agreed, adding that Republicans have especially struggled “on selling” the bill.
“That’s a very good point, and we do get into it in later chapters, especially on selling it. The Republican Party on Capitol Hill, and this is not that unusual, however, it’s not as united as it was a year ago. It was big trouble to get this bill passed,” Cusack said. “Three Senate Republicans voted no on the final bill. Two Republicans in the House voted no.
