Guwahati: A third-year BTech student of IIT-Guwahati died after allegedly falling from a building on the campus on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Raj Singh, who hails from Odisha.Police said they have not ruled out the possibility of suicide and are examining all the circumstances surrounding the death.A statement by the IIT-Guwahati read, "It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the untimely demise of a third-year BTech student at IIT Guwahati. He passed away on Sunday. The Institute is cooperating fully with the police...we are awaiting their findings before we share any further information. His parents are on their way to the campus, and the Institute is in close contact with the family, providing all necessary support during this difficult time".The institute added, "This is a profound loss to our IITG family. We request everyone to refrain from speculation until further facts are established."IIT Guwahati said the Institute remains committed to the mental health and wellbeing of its students.
