U.P.’s Centre of Excellence helped 31 economically weaker and socially disadvantaged students crack NEET, JEE entrance

The Uttar Pradesh government said on Monday that a Centre of Excellence at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Balika Vidyalaya in Marihan under the Mirzapur district, established by the Department of Social Welfare, helped 18 students in qualifying National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and 13 students clearing Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

“With an intake capacity of 40 students, the centre offers quality education through experienced faculty, regular test series, personalised mentoring, modern study materials, and a competitive academic environment designed specifically for national-level entrance examinations. These efforts have consistently translated into outstanding academic results. The centre’s success rate has improved over the years. In 2025, around 11 students qualified NEET and 11 students cleared JEE,” reads an official statement.

In NEET, Pooja Ranjan secured the highest score with 413 marks, followed by Shweta Pal 372, Khushboo 359, Laxmi Rawat 344, Malti 343, Ankita 304, Anita 296, Manisha 263, Premlata 255, Ankita Kumari 248, Komal 244, Sapna 239, Anshika 231, Priyanka 230, Phool Kumari 221, Anuradha 192, Khushi 182, and Anchal 181.“These achievements are not merely about examination scores; they represent stories of determination, resilience, and perseverance. Despite severe financial constraints, these students refused to let their dreams fade. The centre also demonstrated remarkable success in engineering entrance examinations. This year, 13 students qualified for JEE Main. Outstanding performers included Damini Patel, Anwala Verma, Srishti, Shivani, and Ragni from Marihan. Among them, Preeti qualified for JEE Advanced, adding another milestone to the institution’s achievements. Ms. Preeti and Ms. Damini were selected for the Integrated BBA-MBA Programme at IIT Mandi. Other successful candidates included Vikas Yadav and Ankit Singh from Mehrauna (Deoria), Abhishek Mishra from Tirgaon (Barabanki), Amit Kumar from Jogiyatappa Bhanpur (Basti), and Rishikesh Bharti from Parsiya (Mirzapur),” informed the State government.
