SANParks Senior and Emerging Conservation Leaders who Graduated from African Leadership University’s (ALU) School of Wildlife Conservation with a Certificate in Park Management Leadership.
South African National Parks has marked a major milestone in African environmental leadership with thirty staff members graduating as senior and emerging conservation leaders from the African Leadership University’s School of Wildlife Conservation.
After successfully completing the Certificate in Park Management Leadership, this pioneer cohort represents a decisive shift away from historical models of nature protection towards a more inclusive, future-focused approach.
Developed through a groundbreaking partnership between SANParks and the School of Wildlife Conservation, the initiative is the first programme of its kind anywhere in the world. It was established to cultivate a new generation of custodians equipped to navigate the increasingly complex environmental, social, and economic challenges confronting protected areas across the continent.
By combining rigorous academic learning with practical application, the course ensures participants master the strategic leadership, adaptive management, and systems-thinking skills required in the twenty-first century—a time when inclusivity and equitable benefit-sharing have become global imperatives.
