The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) on Monday clarified that the OMR answer sheets found on a roadside in Hyderabad, pertain to the Hostel Welfare Officers recruitment examination, 2018, and have no connection with any ongoing or future recruitment process.The Commission, for the lapse in procedure, has placed two Section Officers under suspension with immediate effect and issued show-cause notices to four officers concerned. Further, it said the contractor’s work order has been cancelled and an FIR lodged against the contractor for gross negligence in handling and transporting the material.According to the Commission’s release on Monday, the recruitment examination was conducted in 2018 and the results were declared by 2020. As the recruitment process had been completed several years ago, the OMR answer sheets were identified for disposal in accordance with the prescribed record retention and destruction procedure. The records were handed over to an authorised contractor for destruction.However, during the destruction process, a few OMR answer sheets were reportedly found on the roadside. The Commission said the circumstances leading to the incident are being verified and has taken serious note of the lapse.The incident does not affect any recruitment exercise, and strictest measures have been initiated to strengthen record disposal procedures and prevent future incidents, the TGPSC reiterated.
