American drugmaker Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is bringing its Relopduo, a fixed-dose combination (FDC) of nivolumab and relatlimab, to India, the company said, adding that it was the first to to get approval for an FDC of two immune checkpoint inhibitors.Ankita Jain, BMS India Country Medical Director, said, “The introduction of Relopduo brings a scientifically differentiated dual immunotherapy to eligible patients, offering new hope to those living with unresectable (inoperable) or metastatic melanoma.”The drug is an oncologist-prescribed treatment priced at ₹2,99,900 per vial, and a patient usually requires two vials a month, a person familiar with the details told businessline. The company also has a patient assistance programme, she said.The dermatology-cancer drug received USFDA approval in 2022 for the treatment of adult and paediatric patients 12 years of age or older with unresectable or metastatic melanoma, the company had said on receiving US regulatory approval. It is a first-in-class, fixed-dose combination of the two drugs given as a single intravenous infusion, it added.Relopduo combines the PD‑1 inhibitor nivolumab with the LAG‑3‑blocking antibody relatlimab in a fixed‑dose combination regimen, simultaneously targeting two distinct immune checkpoints to help restore the body’s immune response against cancer cells, the company explained. In India, melanoma is often diagnosed late and includes aggressive subtypes such as mucosal melanoma, the company said, stressing the need for access to innovative therapies addressing an unmet need in the treatment of unresectable or metastatic melanoma.The launch is supported by findings from the Phase 2/3 RELATIVITY‑047 study, which showed Relopduo increased median progression‑free survival compared with nivolumab monotherapy (10.1 months vs. 4.6 months), the company said.
