CIL board declares interim dividend of ₹5.50 per share.

State-run coal behemoth Coal India on Monday reported a marginal 0.7 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹8,849.81 crore for the first quarter this fiscal, with its total income and total expenditure rising around 8 per cent and 12 per cent y-o-y, respectively.The coal miner had reported a net profit of ₹8,787.84 crore in the first quarter of FY26. Backed by a 7.77 per cent y-o-y rise in revenue from operations, the company’s total income in Q1FY27 increased 8.44 per cent y-o-y at ₹48,295.27 crore, compared with ₹44,535.06 crore.CIL’s revenue from operations during the period under review grew to ₹46,254.80 crore against ₹42,919.20 crore in the year-ago period, according to a stock exchange filing. Overall average realisation of coal in the first quarter stood at ₹2,276.62 per tonne, registering a 3 per cent y-o-y growth. In the first quarter, for the fuel supply agreement (FSA), there was a 1.38 per cent y-o-y increase in quantity at 168.07 million tonnes and also a 1.12 per cent rise in per tonne realisation at ₹2,099.41.e-auctionIn the e-auction in Q1FY27, the quantity increased 24.8 per cent to 26.52 million tonnes, and the per tonne realisation increased by 5.77 per cent to ₹3,085.44. Total expenses increased 11.89 per cent y-o-y at ₹36,816.23 crore, against ₹32,903.19 crore in the first quarter last fiscal. During the period, the cost of materials increased by 27 per cent due mainly to a substantial increase in oil & lubricant expenses.During the first quarter this fiscal, EBITDA remained flat at ₹14,349 crore compared to ₹14,348 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal. The EBITDA margin fell 200 basis points y-o-y at 31 per cent. The board declared an interim dividend of ₹5.50 per share for FY27.Published on July 27, 2026
