Commissioner of Police Shankabratha Bagchi handovers recovered stolen property to a owner during the Property Recovery Mela organised in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

As many as 84 persons were arrested by the Visakhapatnam police for their allegedly involvement in 71 property offences in June 2026. The police also recovered property worth ₹39 lakh.Addressing a press conference at the police conference hall on Monday, Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi said that in June 2026, a total of 95 property offence cases were reported in the city. Special teams formed, used technical methods and detected 71 cases and arrested 84 offenders. Property worth ₹39.77 lakh was recovered. This apart, about 455 missing mobiles worth ₹68.25 lakh were also recovered. With this, property totalling to ₹1.08 crore was recovered.Giving further details, Mr. Bagchi said that the 71 cases included four cases of robbery, two cases of House Break-in by day, six cases of HBs by night, four cases of snatching, 23 cases of motorcycle thefts, five cases of autorickshaw thefts and others. The recovered property include 534.455 grams of gold, 699.8 grams of silver, ₹1.16 lakh, 27 motorcycles and a few other valuables.The CP said that the city police has seen a significant increase in property recovery over the past few months. In April this year, about ₹33.67 lakh was recovered, while in May, the total property recovered was ₹31.14 lakh.Mr. Bagchi also said that as part of the preventive measures, in June as many as 203 CCTV cameras were installed in various places of the city, while 204 crime awareness meetings were conducted by the crime-wing officers, who raised awareness about the types of crimes, criminals and the importance of installing CCTV surveillance. He added that special patrolling was organised in crime prone areas, while drone beats were taken up at isolated areas for surveillance over criminals and illegal activities.During the programme, the CP handed over the lost property to the victims.
