Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P of the defunct P-Square group, has defended his parenting choices after facing criticism over his children’s ability to speak French rather than an indigenous Nigerian language.

The debate began after the singer shared a post from Paris on X, where he expressed admiration for his children’s fluency in French.

“Still in Paris! Watching my kids speak French so effortlessly makes me think… maybe it’s time to own a crib here in Paris. Just a thought,” he wrote.

His post prompted an X user, @sambuddybest, to ask whether the children could also communicate in Igbo.

“Hope they can speak Igbo, too?” the user wrote.
