Railway employees formerly under the erstwhile Waltair Division can expect positive resolutions regarding seniority, promotions, and transfers following a high-level Railway Board meeting in New Delhi on July 24.Senior railway trade union leader Chalasani Gandhi expressed strong confidence that authorities will soon issue equitable orders addressing these service concerns.Following the formation of the South Coast Railway Zone on June 1, the erstwhile Waltair Division split into the Visakhapatnam and Rayagada divisions. This restructuring left many railway employees in the State, particularly in the Kottavalasa-Kirandul and Rayagada sections in Odisha and Chhattisgarh anxious about transfer opportunities back to Andhra Pradesh and the protection of their promotional prospects.To resolve these concerns, union leaders demanded the Railway Board and zonal officials to prepare a transparent framework. Reliable sources indicate that the Board is considering preserving the pre-reorganisation seniority of erstwhile Waltair Division employees up to a designated cut-off date to prevent administrative injustice.Additionally, mutual transfer requests between employees seeking moves to Visakhapatnam and those preferring Rayagada or Khurda Road are under active, balanced review.Mr. Gandhi urged employees to remain calm, assuring them that continued advocacy will secure fair resolutions for all affected personnel.
