Russian forces launched a strike on the town of Balakliia in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, killing one person and injuring eight others.

Head of the Balakliia City Military Administration Vitalii Karabanov announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"According to preliminary information, one person was killed in the attack and eight others were injured. All circumstances of the incident are currently being clarified, and emergency services are working at the scene," Karabanov wrote.

Earlier reports indicated that Russian troops struck Balakliia in the Kharkiv region, killing one person and wounding four others.
