According to a state official speaking to Iranian state television, a vessel was involved in an incident in the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of Monday, July 27. The official referred to the vessel as a “violator” attempting to navigate through the strait.
The informed official told Iranian state TV: “A few hours ago, during the early morning hours of Monday, six violating vessels attempted to pass through an illegal and unsafe route in the southern Strait of Hormuz after turning off their navigation and tracking systems. One of the vessels was involved in an incident, while the remaining ships were decisively directed by Iranian forces back into the Persian Gulf.”
Since the outbreak of the war between Iran and the United States, the Strait of Hormuz has been blocked by Islamic Republic military forces, severely disrupting maritime transit through this critical waterway.
Iran’s state news channel, IRINN, did not provide further details regarding the specific cause or nature of the incident.
The recent escalation between Iran and the United States initially erupted following disputes over the maritime blockade, a crisis that intensified after Iranian attacks on several commercial vessels subsequently triggered U.S. military strikes against Iran.
