The UAE fined 42 domestic worker recruitment offices for breaking employment rules in the first half of the year.
Of 135 recorded offences, 106 involved recruiters failing to issue refunds to employers within the legally required two-week period.
Domestic workers can be returned to recruiters for reasons including incompetence, unsuitability, or medical unfitness.
In 2022, updated domestic labour legislation expanded punishable offences, with fines ranging from $5,450 to $27,225 and up to six months in prison.
