Adam Peaty and his family fell out last year amid his wedding to Holly Ramsay, but is it possible for the family to resolve their differences anymore?11:46, 27 Jul 2026Updated 11:47, 27 Jul 2026Adam Peaty has hit the headlines at the Commonwealth Games - but not for his swimming.‌The swimmer - who now goes by the name Adam Ramsay-Peaty - is competing in this year's Commonwealth Games, his first since his Paris comeback following a break from the sport owing to his mental health and burnout.‌He competed in the Breaststroke 100m final over the weekend and despite being the fastest qualifier in the heats, he came third in the final behind Australia's Sam Williamson and Jersey's Filip Nowacki.‌This is all with the backdrop of his growing feud with his family when he married wife Holly without his mum and dad present. Only sister Bethany was there from his side of the family. After finishing third on Saturday, Adam headed to the stands where he kissed his wife Holly's stomach. The pair are expecting their first child together. He was in tears as he spoke about how hard things were, and how it all took its toll.‌"It’s hard because I know how hard I work. I know the s*** I’ve been through, which is no fault of my own, but it does take its toll,’ an upset Ramsay-Peaty said after winning the bronze medal," he said in a post-race interview."I’m not crying because it’s bronze instead of gold. I’m crying because I know I am better than that. I feel like I couldn’t have put any more in and that’s where it hurts, because I’m like ‘what’s the point of all the metres every day, what’s the point of being exhausted all the time? What’s the point of having to say no to family events because you can’t go to training’? It has to mean something and for me it has to be human excellence and that is not excellence for me. So that’s the emotion that is unfortunately coming out."‌Adam later said that his wife Holly was "always" proud of him and his aim is always to be a good father. Adam and Holly are expecting and he also has a son George with his ex Eirianedd Munro."There’s obviously a lot of unanswered questions, which is about right, because we haven’t yet had time to debrief. But that is sport. It can break you. It can make you. You can have highs to highs and lows to lows," he said."My wife is always going to be proud of me. As a father, it doesn’t matter if you come home with a gold – as long as you come home with a teddy, which I did. The emotion is something I’m always going to carry. I’m never going to be afraid to show weakness."Article continues belowAdam's mum has since broken her silence online, where she has shared a black and white photo of Cillian Murphy in BBC drama Peaky Blinders alongside the words: "I forgive people but that doesn't mean I accept their behaviour or trust them. I forgive them for me, so I can let go and move on with my life."Like this s tory?
