Problems with bread supplies have arisen in villages in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region.
Serhiy Danylov, deputy director of the Ukrainian Association of Middle East Studies, told a Ukrinform correspondent about this.
“Bread supplies have quietly stopped in many villages in the Kherson region—or perhaps even in most of them. In Skadovsk, it’s fortunate that the bakery still runs on natural gas, because as far back as 2021, there were plans to convert it to electricity. But they didn’t have time to do it, and it was never converted. As a result, bread is being baked in Skadovsk, but very little of it is being delivered,” says Danylov.
According to him, first of all, they are not always able to secure the necessary quantities of flour. Second, bread is not being delivered to the villages.
“Most often, people don’t have the money to drive out for bread. Plus, it’s dangerous to drive,” says Danylov. He gave an example of how residents of one village try to send a courier by car once a week to get bread for the entire village.
