Hyundai Motor Group, which includes the brands Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, is streamlining and unifying its global activities in bidirectional charging and intelligent energy management. Under the newly created umbrella brand ‘AllDayEnergy’, the group has announced plans to offer V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) services across all brands and regions under a single unified identity. The goal of this initiative is to provide end customers with reliable and cross-brand access to intelligent energy services that seamlessly integrate electric vehicles into domestic power grids and public distribution networks.
The strategic rollout of AllDayEnergy is modular and begins in its first phase with classic smart charging based on the V1G principle – where electricity flows only from the grid to the EV, but not back, as is the case with bidirectional charging. In smart charging, the charging time is dynamically adjusted to real-time electricity tariffs, grid loads, and individual user preferences. Full bidirectional applications will follow in later phases, enabling the EV battery to serve as a temporary storage solution for the public grid (V2G) and home networks (V2H).
The official market launch is scheduled for the second half of 2026, initially in the UK via the Kia app, followed by planned expansion into continental Europe, the USA, and the group’s home market of Korea. This development is driven by the growing importance of EVs as mobile energy storage solutions in the context of the energy transition.
