A Briton who switched his life in London for Pennsylvania has said he has become more concerned about the United States’ stance on gun rights since his daughter started school amid an increasingly violent political climate.
TikTokker Brenden Guy, 41, who amassed followers through light-hearted content about raising his two daughters in the US, said the current political climate had put a “huge” divide between people who are pro-gun use and those who are not.
“Me and my wife have always been concerned about guns, but at the moment it is terrifying,” the Bournemouth native said.
“We do our best to shield our kids from the fear of gun violence but even at an early age, they can’t escape it because active shooter drills are part of their school experience here,” he said. “How do you even explain this to a five-year-old?”
Mr Guy first moved to the United States in 2008 on a one-year study abroad programme in New York City as part of his undergraduate degree at the Royal College of Music in London.
