Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, the Republican challenging New York Gov.
Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) in the gubernatorial race, aimed at Hochul and New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani on Sunday, arguing their tax policies could make it harder for New Yorkers to pass family wealth to future generations.
In a post on X accompanied by a video, Blakeman said Hochul and Mamdani want to increase the number of people subject to what he described as an "inheritance tax," arguing that families could ultimately be forced to sell homes, farms or businesses to cover tax bills.
"Family farms, small businesses, and family homes shouldn't have to be sold just to pay another tax," Blakeman wrote.
Hochul and Mamdani want to make it harder for New Yorkers to pass down what they've spent a lifetime building.
