(NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) CEO Sundar Pichai has endorsed Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang's push for open-weight AI models as OpenAI joins the industry letter after initially sitting out, while Anthropic and Amazon.com, Inc.
(NASDAQ:AMZN) continue to remain absent.
Google, OpenAI Rally Behind Open-Weight AI Initiative Last week, Pichai threw Google's support behind the growing industry push for open-weight artificial intelligence models, joining Huang's public campaign against potential U.S. restrictions on downloadable AI models.
Pichai said, "Very happy to support this on behalf of Google." He added that Google has "long benefited from open source," pointing to the company's contributions through its Gemma family of open-weight models developed by Google DeepMind.
