Police and residents clashed at Parksig Villas in Bellville following the shooting of a Nigerian man during a police raid.
Chaos erupted at a Bellville apartment complex on Thursday when members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) allegedly killed a Nigerian foreign national and shot another through the lip.
Videos of the incident circulated on social media showing a group of foreign nationals arguing with police when a gunshot went off and a Nigerian national resident’s bottom lip was shot in two.
According to the Parksig Villas residents, the foreign nationals stood together because one of their ‘brothers’ was killed before police allegedly tried to leave the scene.
A resident, who wants to protect her identity, said: “Police come on a regular basis to this complex and break people’s things, break down doors, attack the residents, then leave.
