Transgender advocate and actress Dylan Mulvaney has responded to President Donald Trump after the latter mocked both her and CNN’s Kaitlan Collins during his speech at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Friday night.
At the event, which had been postponed from April after a gunman fired shots as the first dinner was under way, Trump gave a speech wherein he compared the two women after Collins accepted an award for her working covering the administration..
“I want to personally congratulate CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on receiving her award,” Trump said. “It was all about me. It’s a fake — she shouldn’t get the award, it was a fake. But I didn’t mind. I said, ‘Kaitlan, congratulations.’ But it was fake, there’s no question about it.”
After criticizing Collins for her facial expressions, Trump then compared her to Mulvaney, mentioning the 2023 controversy surrounding the latter’s Bud Light commercial. Three years ago, Mulvaney made an ad for Bud Light that was met with criticism from conservatives who launched a boycott against the beer brand, leading to a decline in sales.
“I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,” Trump said Friday. “Dylan Mulvaney cost Bud Light $35 billion in market cap. That was the worst commercial ever made by the way, for those few people who want to hear that. Most people don’t care, but I would. I wouldn’t want to hire Dylan any time soon.”
