The Korean manufacturer of gaming equipment Pulsar, in collaboration with fan specialist Noctua, has presented a version of their premium Feinmann F01 gaming mouse with an integrated fan. The 40-millimeter Noctua fan is intended to cool the player's palm through the mouse's heavily perforated housing when things get too hot. Like the base version of the mouse, the Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition has a housing with many holes. In the Feinmann F01, which weighs only 46 grams, it is made of a magnesium alloy. The Noctua Edition has a carbon composite housing in Noctua's typical brown and beige colors. Despite the additional fan and 500 mAh battery, the Noctua Edition weighs only 73 grams.
Additionally, Pulsar has equipped the Noctua Edition of the Feinmann F01 with an improved sensor: a modified PAW 3955, which Pulsar calls the XS-2. It achieves up to 42,000 cpi and a tracking speed of 800 ips. This corresponds to approximately 20.3 meters per second or 73 km/h. As befits a high-quality gaming mouse, the F01 Noctua Edition transmits up to 8000 data packets per second wirelessly via a dongle to the USB interface (8000 Hz polling rate). The dongle has two buttons, which can be used to switch the resolution in-game and control the fan. This can also be done directly on the mouse using key combinations. Pulsar does not specify battery life, as it depends heavily on the polling rate and, of course, on fan operation.
