Officers and personnel of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre celebrated the Kargil Vijay Diwas in Belagavi on Sunday (July 26).Brigadier Girish Upadhya, Commandant, MLIRC, and other officers inaugurated the event through a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial. They also paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999.Wreaths were also laid by Sandeep Khot, Centre Subedar Major and Agniveer Vivek Khedekar, symbolising the Regiment’s enduring legacy of valour and the seamless passing of the spirit of service from one generation of soldiers to the next.The ceremony honoured their unparalleled courage, unwavering dedication and selfless service, which ensured India’s victory in one of the most challenging high-altitude conflicts in military history.The occasion also recalled the distinguished contribution of The Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, whose gallant soldiers etched the Regiment’s name in golden letters through their exemplary courage during the Kargil conflict. The ceremony was attended by officers, JCOs, other ranks and Agniveers of the Regimental Centre, who paid solemn tributes to the fallen heroes and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Army, inspired by the courage, patriotism and supreme sacrifice of the Kargil warriors, said a press release.
