AmaZulu will go into the new season having retained their status as the team among teams in KwaZulu-Natal after beating Milford FC 2-0 on Sunday.
There may not have been league points on offer, but there was no shortage of pride as AmaZulu underlined their position as the province's leading club by successfully defending their KZN Premier's Cup crown. Usuthu arrived at the final after seeing off ambitious ABC Motsepe League outfit Midlands Wanderers.
While the scoreline suggested a comfortable win, the encounter served as another reminder that every team will want to measure themselves against the province's benchmark.
Waiting in the final were a fearless Milford FC side, the newly promoted Betway Premiership outfit that has quickly become one of the country's feel-good stories. Milford had earned their place in the decider after an impressive victory over Golden Arrows, showing the organisation and discipline that secured promotion to the top flight.
