Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, whom Forbes has ranked as Africa’s wealthiest monarch, has ordered the handover of a major vocational training complex to gold-rich Mali as Rabat expands its education and development projects across the continent and renews interest in a market where Moroccan investors have previously pursued gold opportunities.
The Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development has completed a vocational training complex in Bamako that will prepare young Malians for jobs in construction, public works, hospitality, tourism and foodservice.
The foundation will hand the facility to Malian authorities following instructions from Morocco’s King Mohammed VI.
Built on a covered area of 5,200 square metres, the Mohammed VI Vocational Training Complex will accommodate nearly 1,000 trainees each year across 21 programmes.
Twelve programmes will cover construction and public works, while nine will focus on tourism, hospitality and catering.
