OTTAWA — After years of advising candidates in elections, Braeden Caley is learning one lesson in his own campaign the hard way: wear sensible shoes.

Earlier this week, with two door-knocking sessions on either side of a more formal event, the new Liberal candidate found himself going door to door for hours in dress shoes as he starts the campaign to win North Vancouver—Capilano and move from the prime minister’s office to being an MP.
