The original Sugababes may soon face former members Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah for a good old fashioned chart battle as they all plan to unleash brand new music18:25, 25 Jul 2026Updated 18:26, 25 Jul 2026The Sugababes looks set to cross paths on the music charts with past members Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - who are planning their music come backs. The iconic pop group have been notable for their roster of members over the years almost as much as their infectious music.‌Original trio Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy founded the band in the late 1990s and went on to enjoy success in 2000 with the release of their debut single, Overload, and their debut album, One Touch, in 2000. However, Siobhán abruptly left the group the following year, kick starting a revolving door of members to the group.‌Heidi, 43, joined the group after Siobhán's departure and remained part of the outfit until its disbandment in 2011 - at which point Mutya and Keisha had already left the group. While Amelle, 42, was part of the band from 2005 until 2011.‌In 2010, the original members formed a new band, called MKS - and ultimately won back the right to use the name Sugababes again in 2019 and released the critically acclaimed album The Lost Tapes in 2022.The original band have continued to unleash new music and performed to sold out crowds - and now it is reported that Heidi and Amelle are hoping to make their own returns to the music world - away from the Sugababes.‌A source told The Sun: “Amelle and Heidi never fell out. The group just stopped and they were all ready for a break at the time. But Amelle has been performing solo solidly since 2024 and has been suggesting for some time now that Heidi should join her. It’s taken some persuasion but Heidi finally feels ready to get back to doing what she loves.”The enthusiasm for new music for Amelle and Heidi is said to have been sparked in part over the fact the one-time Atomic Kitten star enjoyed performing on stage with Nicole and Natalie Appleton at the 2026 Mighty Hoopla festival in London.‌The source continued: "The demand from fans since Mighty Hoopla has been intense and now Heidi and Amelle are planning out performances of their own. Afterall, they co-wrote most of Sugababes hits so why shouldn’t they?"Amelle and Heidi legally won’t be able to be billed as Sugababes for any live shows but nobody can stop them from using the music.”‌The Mirror has approached representatives of Sugababes, Amelle and Heidi for comment.After Siobhán first left the Sugababes in 2001, she went on to release solo material under her own name - including the albums Revolution in Me in 2003 and Ghosts in 2007. Mutya quit the Sugababes in 2005 and was replaced by Amelle. The original band member enjoyed some success with solo material of her own.She unleashed her album, Real Girl, in 2007, enjoyed chart success alongside Groove Armada with the dance floor hit Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control) that same year, and dueted with George Michael in 2006 on his single, This Is Not Real Love.‌Amelle enjoyed success away from the Sugababes when she featured on the Tinchy Stryder track Never Leave You in 2009 which hit number one, and she released solo singles in 2013 and 2014.Jade Ewen, who represented the UK at Eurovision in 2009 joined the Sugababes that same year - replacing Keisha, who abruptly quit the group. The band continued to release music until 2011 when they split - and it was a long eight years before the original members were able to perform again under the Sugababes brand.The original line-up have teased the release of their next album for over a year - and have released the singles When The Rain Comes, Jungle, Weeds, and Shook in recent months.
