Transgender dolls with removable genitalia to hit classrooms in Minnesota

University of Minnesota scholars are launching “therapeutic” transgender dolls to children as young as 4 for a project through the school’s Eli Coleman Institute for Sexual and Gender Health.The MyGender Dolls website offered few details about the project, but said, “Join the waitlist,” and, “Launching 2026.”The dolls are designed for children aged 4 to 10.

“MyGender Dolls are designed for the clinicians and educators who show up for these kids every day — providing developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed resources that didn’t exist before,” the website said. “MyGender Dolls are built for the professionals who support trans and gender diverse children in clinical and educational settings.”The website also has a waitlist form that people can fill out “to be kept up to date about the MyGender Dolls.”The website features photos of the dolls, including one that appears to be a boy wearing a dress with socks and loafers.The New York Post said the dolls have detachable internal and external genitalia, and have gender-neutral names like “Sam,” “Rory,” “Avery,” and “Parker.” The dolls come with more than 100 different options for clothing, hair, and accessories. The New York Post also said the project was funded by Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN).Walz was bestowed the Eli Coleman Institute’s inaugural “Distinguished Sexual and Gender Health Champion Award” in 2023.“The University of Minnesota Eli Coleman Institute for Sexual and Gender Health (ISGH) presented its inaugural Distinguished Sexual and Gender Health Champion Award to Governor Tim Walz. This award honors those who champion sexual and gender health in ways that have an impact at a particular historic moment when a champion is needed. Governor Walz received the award for his outstanding efforts in protecting sexual and reproductive healthcare and gender-affirming healthcare,” the institute’s Instagram post said.
