Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, a star of this summer’s World Cup, has an agreement in place to join Colo-Colo, the Chilean club’s president has said.Vozinha had been a free agent since leaving Portuguese second division side Chaves, where he spent two seasons, at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.Colo-Colo’s president Anibal Mosa told local media on Friday, ahead of his side’s domestic league match against Deportes Limache: “We can confirm Vozinha will be a Colo-Colo player.“We have an agreement; the final details are being ironed out, but we already have confirmation from his entourage and his representative. We reached an agreement based on a proposal that we submitted.”Vozinha, whose two-decade career has included spells at club teams in Cape Verde, Moldova, Slovakia and Cyprus, became the oldest player to make an appearance in a nation’s debut World Cup game at the age of 40 years and 12 days old.He was man of the match in Cape Verde’s surprise 0-0 opening draw against European champions Spain as he made seven crucial saves.The 91-time Cape Verde international has gained significant traction since his tournament debut. His Instagram account before the match had 50,000 followers but, at the time of writing, it has grown to 29.5 million.Vozinha played in each of Cape Verde’s remaining three games at the tournament, including keeping another clean sheet against Saudi Arabia as the archipelagic country made it through to the last 32-stage.The goalkeeper once again impressed in Cape Verde’s 3-2 after extra-time loss to defending champions Argentina, a match in which he made seven saves.After his nation’s elimination, Vozinha was honoured by having new species of marine mollusk named after him: Aldisa vozinhai (in English, Vozinha’s sea slug).
