Isuzu Motors India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Japanese auto major Isuzu, has signed a five-year agreement with Kamarajar Port Ltd (KPL) for the export of commercial vehicles through the port’s General Cargo Berth. This strengthens the partnership between the two that has been in place since 2019.Under the agreement, Isuzu Motors India will receive concessional wharfage rates linked to export volumes for the next five years, a move aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of vehicle exports through the port.Isuzu’s manufacturing facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh has been exporting its D-Max and S-Cab models through Kamarajar Port to key West Asia markets, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan, since 2019.The agreement was signed by Hironori Okawa, Assistant General Manager, Isuzu Motors India, and Thirumurugan, General Manager (Operations), Kamarajar Port, in the presence of JP Irene Cynthia, Managing Director of Kamarajar Port, and senior officials from both organisations.Kamarajar Port in a social media post said the agreement reinforces its commitment to providing efficient, customer-centric and globally competitive port services while further strengthening its position as a preferred gateway for automobile exports.Rajesh Mittal, President and Managing Director of Isuzu Motors India, told businessline that the port has played a significant role in strengthening the company’s export operations over the past few years.“We are happy to continue our strategic partnership with Kamarajar Port Ltd, which has played a significant role in strengthening our export operations over the last few years. This long-term collaboration is an important enabler for us to be among the leading commercial vehicle exporters in our category,” he said.Mittal said the company remains committed to its “Make in India, for India and the globe” strategy by manufacturing world-class vehicles in India for domestic and overseas markets.Highlighting the company’s export performance, he said Isuzu Motors India has consistently been one of the largest exporters of commercial vehicles from India, he said. The agreement is expected to further strengthen Isuzu’s global supply chain while supporting India’s growing automobile export and maritime logistics ecosystem, he added.Both KPL and the company did not provide details on the wharfage fee concession.Sources said that Isuzu exported around 14,000 vehicles last fiscal.Published on July 25, 2026
