The visitors from Barcelona were issued €79 penalty fares after an inspector rejected screenshots of SMS tickets.
A group of Spanish students say they were unfairly fined on public transport in Bratislava on Wednesday, 22 July, after presenting screenshots of valid SMS tickets on their mobile devices rather than original text messages.
The students, who were visiting Slovakia from Barcelona, were each issued with a €79 penalty fare after a ticket inspector insisted that screenshots could not be accepted as proof of a valid ticket.
“We were in shock,” dancer Celia Flos i Villagrasa told TV JOJ. “We tried to explain that we had bought the tickets.”
Her friend, Carla Bermudez Huerga, added that the ticket inspector lacked empathy: “Nobody wanted to listen to us.”
