ALL Blacks legend Ma'a Nonu has joined the Sharks in Durban.
The Sharks have pulled off a major coup by recruiting All Blacks legend Ma'a Nonu to Durban as part of a high-performance mentorship programme aimed at accelerating the development of the club's next generation of players.
Nonu comes to the Sharks after just finishing a highly successful career with Toulon (100 caps). The 106kg centre also played 126 times for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby, plus multiple times for the Blues and Highlanders.
But it was as an unstoppable midfield missile for the All Blacks that Nonu is best known. He played 103 Tests for the All Blacks between 2003 and 2015, the team’s golden era which bagged back-to-back World Cups in 2011 and 2015.
While it is possible that Nonu could lace up the boots occasionally, he joins the Sharks primarily in a mentorship and leadership capacity, working alongside the coaching staff to support player development and strengthen the club's high-performance culture.
