Two actors appeared on James Martin's TV show and they were amused by a light-hearted joke aimed at another one of Britain's most famous celebrity chefs, Paul Hollywood08:34, 25 Jul 2026Updated 08:34, 25 Jul 2026Two celebrities went on a tour of James Martin's home when they appeared on his show - and came across a hilarious joke directed at Paul Hollywood.‌James and Paul are two of Britain most famous celebrity chefs, with James Martin's Saturday Morning and The Great British Bake Off both attracting loyal followings.‌While the pair are firm friends - and James is even godfather to Paul's son, Joshua - that still appears to leave room for a little professional rivalry.‌This is something that actors Ralf Little and Will Mellor picked up on when they appeared on James's show, which is filmed in the chef's Hampshire home. The pair, who appeared on Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps together, were given a tour of his house were they claimed the spotted the jibe aimed at Paul.‌He said: “He has a poster, he sold 30,000 tickets and smashed his tour and on one of his posters it just goes, ‘26 shows, 26 standing ovations, 26,000 more ticket sales than Paul Hollywood’. I thought that was really class.”The joke is very like tongue-in-cheek as the celebrity chefs' friendship goes back decades. They first worked together on a show called Use Your Loaf which aired on the Carlton Network back in 2000.This was before either of them achieved mainstream success. Paul's son, with ex-wife Alexandra, arrived the following year.‌Despite their close bond, fellow celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott suggested back in 2017 there was some tension regarding Paul's rapid rise to fame on the Great British Bake Off, but this has never been backed up by either party. When Paul went through a turbulent public separation from his ex-wife in 2013, James was among the close circle of friends who reportedly supported him through that period.‌Ralf, 46, and Will, 50, who were speaking about their experience on their The Two Pints podcast, were impressed by James's tour of the house. Will said: “It was a great experience, it was nice to go on and talk about, obviously, the pod and how interested he is. But also how well he’s done on tours. He does a tour.”Article continues belowRalf, who also starred on The Royle Family and Death in Paradise, went on to explain that one aspect of the experience left them surprised. The actor said: "Well, he does a tour. And it's really funny because me and Will often say for our tour, 'it's not just us just going and just talking. We try to put on a bit of a show and do stuff."Turns out that what we do, that's small time. He takes on a tour, he's a chef, people are expecting him to cook. He's got a couple of cooking sets on the stage, but apparently it's a rock concert. He comes out wailing on the guitar, there's a whole music, they've got a bigger setup."
