Heartbreaking to heartwarming: disabled grandmother, 84, finally regains her independence.
An 84-year-old grandmother, who spent years crawling on her hands and knees due to a lack of mobility aids, has finally regained her independence thanks to a generous donation from the Collen Mashawana Foundation
For years, every journey around her home came at the cost of pain and exhaustion. Unable to walk because of her disability, she was forced to crawl wherever she needed to go, including to the toilet, making even the simplest daily tasks a daily struggle.
Describing the conditions she endured, the Collen Mashawana Foundation said, "This is how the grandmother moved around every day due to her disability. She had to crawl wherever she needed to go, whether to the toilet or anywhere else around her home."
The foundation said her limited mobility also prevented her from taking part in one of the activities she treasured most.
