Russia continues to pressure Belarus, attempting to draw it into the war against Ukraine or to use its territory to redeploy its troops. At the same time, no strike groups are currently being formed near the Ukrainian border.
According to Ukrinform, Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported this during a television broadcast.
“Actually, speaking specifically about the border line, fortunately, no unusual situations or provocative actions originating from Belarusian territory have been reported,” he said.
At the same time, Demchenko noted that this sector, which spans more than 1,000 km of Ukraine’s border with Belarus, remains a threat, “so we must first and foremost strengthen our defensive capabilities to counter any threat that may come from Belarusian territory.”
“In the immediate vicinity of our border, we are not observing any buildup of strike forces that are being formed or have already been formed and are ready for an invasion. But, again, we must be prepared for various kinds of provocations aimed at forcing Ukraine, for example, to deploy additional forces there, thereby weakening other, more important fronts,” Demchenko emphasized.
