MANILA, Philippines – The long-awaited launch of Apple Pay in the Philippines could be just around the corner, along with other digital payment methods.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan said local banks are preparing to launch Apple Pay, while a tap-to-pay system for Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT1) is awaiting a final agreement with the rail line’s private operator.
