This prompted rumors about whether the former chairman would return to the company now.It is to be noted that McMahon had retired from WWE in July 2022 after the hush money scandal arose. However, the legendary commentator dismissed the idea of McMahon working alongside AEW president Tony Khan.Earlier, the discussion actually gained momentum after Dave Meltzer claimed that it would not shock him if he were brought back in this position. Though he didn't say it with utter conviction, he said it wouldn't shock him if he decided to return. He was not stating it as an expectation but rather as a possibility.He also suggested that if McMahon ever returns to WWE, it wouldn't be a meaningful position, because he would not replace President Nick Khan or shift Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque, his son-in-law.Meanwhile, after Jim Ross was asked about the possibility of the former WWE chairman returning to wrestling, he said he would likely do it his own way.Speaking on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross suggested that McMahon might return to the wrestling scenario. However, he predicted that McMahon would be more likely to acquire another promotion, such as TNA Wrestling, if he chooses to get back into the industry.Even during the podcast, host Conrad Thompson asked whether McMahon could ever work with Tony Khan in AEW. Ross dismissed the idea, as he believes that Tony Khan probably wouldn’t be interested in bringing McMahon into AEW.“Unlikely. Unlikely. He’s going to want to steer his own ship, build his own boat and take it from there. Off top of my head, I’d say probably not. And I don’t see Tony Khan wanting to do business with him either,” he stated.Vince McMahon has spent decades running WWE in a higher position until he had to resign due to his legal issues. So, it would be difficult for him to take a smaller role in another company, Ross has further suggested.He also believes that it’s difficult to keep McMahon away from the wrestling scene. He further added, “He’s going to be doing something that allows him to display his product knowledge. And God almighty, he’s got plenty of product knowledge.
