RIYADH: A Saudi vessel, the NCC MASA, sustained minor hull damage when it was attacked in the Red Sea on Friday.
It was able to continue to its destination after checks confirmed the vessel and its crew were safe, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing an official source at the Kingdom’s General Transport Authority.
The incident followed an attack on the Saudi-owned ship Encelia in the Red Sea late on Wednesday, which caused a fire.
The Houthi militia in Yemen said on Monday it was imposing a naval blockade on the Kingdom, a declaration that was widely criticized by countries in the region and worldwide.
The Saudi source described the targeting of commercial vessels as “a violation of international laws” that ensure the safety of merchant ships and their crews.
