I have been looking forward to “Daemons of the Shadow Realm” ever since I heard Hiromu Arakawa was getting another anime adaptation.
As someone who considers “Fullmetal Alchemist” one of the greatest anime ever made, my expectations were probably unfairly high. That may be why I have such mixed feelings after the first few episodes.
Do not get me wrong, I am enjoying it. I am tuning in every week, and I genuinely want to know what happens next. But I keep waiting for that one moment that completely pulls me in, and it has not arrived just yet.
The series opens with a heartbreaking tragedy that immediately raises the stakes.
